Living with great intensity his priestly vocation,
Father Daniel Meynen offers us the benefits of his theological
contemplation of the Eucharistic Mystery. Ever anxious to go deep into
things, he comes immediately to the heart of the matter - the personal
action of Mary-Mediatrix in an eucharistic communion. Belgian by birth,
the author blends here in the Marial Tradition of the Belgian Church,
secular preacher of Mary's mediation.
Deeply impassionate towards the Church, Christ's Body as is the
Eucharist, Father Meynen wishes to place at the service of the
believers' community the gifts he received from God. With this book, he
wants to contribute in bringing to light the role of Mary in her
association with the Charge of the Roman Pontiff, Mary and the Pope
being closely linked to the Mystery of the Church, the first as Mother,
the latter as its foundation and "rock".
Taking into account what will always remain mysterious, the reader will
discover in this book the joy and immense pleasure the author had in
writing it - as Father Jean Galot, S.J., professor of theology at the
Gregorian University, states : "Mon impression est que vous avez une
âme de mystique. Vous avez dû trouver une grande
joie
à écrire ce volume." - "My impression is that you
have
the soul of a mystic. You must have enjoyed very much writing this
book." (Letter to Father Meynen, December 14, 1994)
Father Daniel Meynen, a Roman Catholic Priest, was the author of an
earlier theological reflection on the role of Mary-Mediatrix called,
"L'Eucharistie : l'Eglise dans le Cœur du Christ (The
Eucharist :
the Church within the Heart of Christ)".
His Excellency Monsignor Dino Munduzzi, Prefect of His Holiness' Palace
in Rome, warmly praised Father Meynen for his first work, saying : "I
want to express to you my congratulations for these fervant meditations
you have dared to make on such a profound subject." (Vatican City, 22
August 1995).
This new book seeks to develop the idea that St. Mary is a real
mediatrix which is realized through her mystical union with the Roman
Pontiff. It is a sequel to Father Meynen's first book, "L'Eucharistie:
l'Eglise dans le Cœur du Christ". In this new sequel the
reader
is provided more advanced insights into the governing principles of
both St. Mary's mediation and the Pope's eucharistic ministry.
By first showing what is meant in Scripture "to be a rock" or "Cephas",
the author then analyzes the Last Supper of the Lord, and explains the
divine words : "Do this in memory of Me." He then considers
Mary-Mediatrix through her relationships with all three Persons of the
Holy Trinity. The book concludes by explaining the exact nature of the
deaconal character within the eucharistic ministry of St. Peter's
Successor. Father Meynen also reveals what is essentially the character
of the bishop and generally discusses the faith of Christ as well as
many things the reader will discover about himself as he reads this
book.
